The City of Glenorchy is home to over 51,000 people. Glenorchy is Tasmania’s fourth largest city, located in the Greater Hobart metropolitan area in Southern Tasmania. It is about 7 km north of Tasmania’s capital city, Hobart, and is nestled below the Wellington Range on the western shore of the River Derwent.

Industries in the City include ship building, metal fabrication, zinc processing, food processing, furniture production and high technology industry. The City encompasses a total land area of about 120 square kilometres.
